Showcasing the natural curves of our local Red Belt Fungi (Forest Echoes), each Echo is hand harvested and dried out over several weeks, creating a one of a kind West Coast art piece.
Traditionally, First Nations Tribes gathered Forest Echoes along the West Coast for their medicinal and energetic properties. They believed that they caused echoes in the woods and placed them in their houses for protection from dark energy. As saprophytes they create new life from death, and are revered for their potent immune boosting compounds that may very well save the world one day.
The West Coast Story
Early morning... Has always been my favourite time of day. When I was young I would wake up at 5am with the bird songs, ready to get the day started. My parents would have to continually find new activities to keep me busy. Waking up, and going to sleep with the suns cycle is a normal practice for most humans on the planet, and all animals. It’s been scientifically proven that the atmosphere is thinner between 4-6 am and this is why they send early morning shuttles to space. A thinner atmosphere means less energy waves and frequencies, making for clearer more peaceful minds. Meditation, yoga, creative writing, walking all flow much more easily when those first rays of sun are feeling their way up over the horizon. Now that I’m older I spend those early hours being grateful, mindful, creative, or even better surfing. For surfers around the globe, it’s a universal fact that the ocean is more at peace as well. Winds are calm or offshore, swells are more organized and periods are nicely spaced. As the day unfolds so too does the craziness and the earths energy, but for those few beautiful moments, the earth is a shimmering golden palace of holiness. Bird is the word, and the earliest always, in all ways gets the worm. The dawn patrol rise, a time when the true warriors battle the West Coast cold and darkness to embrace the perfection of each day.
