The West Coast Story

My mother grew up on the shores of Kootenay Lake just outside of Nelson, and I spent my childhood exploring this beautiful corner of B.C. I had my first days of skiing at Whitewater Ski Resort and those magical fluffy runs are still burnt in my mind. The pull from my mountain home was strong, and in 2012 I found myself in a packed car heading back to Nelson. I spent the next two years studying Forestry, and most importantly re-discovering my love of the mountains. From snow shoes, I transitioned to a custom made split board built by my friends at Kindred Snowboards in Merville. I spent countless days re-living those vivid memories and exploring the backcountry around Whitewater Basin. I worshipped Ullr and he delivered some all-time storms. Even in-bounds there would be powder for days, something I had never experienced on the Island. On this particular day, I was riding some waist deep champagne with a few friends and hitting a well-known cliff drop on Sprouler’s. Another epic session, in a place that’s been super close to my heart since I first slid down those slopes.
